| To be eligible for a Home Sustainability Assessment (and/or Green Loan):
You must be living in the home. You can either be the owner of the home, the trustee of the home or one of the tenants listed on the rental agreement if you're renting. You won't be eligible if you live in a home owned by a government, a corporate organisation or a company. The home cannot be a new home less than 12 months old and you may need to provide evidence that the home has been occupied for more than 12 months. You'll need to give the government permission to access your water and energy records directly from your energy and water suppliers. This is so the government can calculate the reductions made by Australian households who participated in the program.
A Home Sustainability Assessment is the first step you need to take to lower your home’s carbon emissions and reduce your personal impact on climate change. There are host of other benefits in running an efficient, sustainable home. efficiency and sustainability What does a Home Sustainability Assessment involve? A physical inspection of a household and its’ associated energy and water systems is conducted, considering thermal comfort, water heating and efficiency, lighting, refrigeration, cooking, entertainment and waste management. Ggeneral information is recorded about the way people interact with their home. The data collected is entered into a sophisticated assessment software tool to allow environmental impact calculations. Throughout
the process a range of practical suggestions is offered and solutions
to help improve household efficiency and sustainability. Assessments
usually take between 45mins and 1.5 hours. The length of the assessment
will depend on the size of the house, the availability of the information
required and the number of energy and water systems to be considered. This
service is financed by the Australian Federal Government as part of
the Green Loans and Home Sustainability Assessments Scheme. The scheme
has been developed to provide Australian householders with a starting
point to reduce their personal impact on climate change. * Reduce your impact on
