The Green Loans Program is a NEW Australian Government initiative, to help Australians tackle climate change. Assisting Australian homes to become more aware of energy efficient and water saving products. Most households up to now, have found it hard to fully understand how to go about about saving energy in the home and where to start.

A professional Home Sustainability Assessment taken by our Independent Home Sustainability Assessor, will COST YOU NOTHING!

The green loans program will assist Australian families to ‘go green’, save on energy and also assist in the purchase of new ‘green’ products through interest free loans.
The scheme has two main components funded by the Australian Federal Government:

1. FREE Home Sustainability Assessment & Report (valued at over $250)
2. Access to a Green Loans subsidy: borrow up to $10,000 to buy and install green products (Obligation Free), interest free over 4 years..

Be part of this exciting new scheme that will enable you to drastically reduce your energy consumption and therefore reduce your energy bills. Most recommendations put forward in the assessment and report are straightforward and most importantly come at a very minimal cost.

To be eligible for a Home Sustainability Assessment (and/or Green Loan):

You need to be at least 18 years old and either an Australian citizen or a permanent resident.

Your taxable income needs to be under $250,000 a year.

You must be living in the home. You can either be the owner of the home, the trustee of the home or one of the tenants listed on the rental agreement if you're renting.

You won't be eligible if you live in a home owned by a government, a corporate organisation or a company.

The home cannot be a new home less than 12 months old and you may need to provide evidence that the home has been occupied for more than 12 months.

You'll need to give the government permission to access your water and energy records directly from your energy and water suppliers. This is so the government can calculate the reductions made by Australian households who participated in the program.

What is a Home Sustainability Assessment?

A Home Sustainability Assessment is the first step you need to take to lower your home’s carbon emissions and reduce your personal impact on climate change. There are host of other benefits in running an efficient, sustainable home.

What does a Home Sustainability Assessment involve?

A physical inspection of a household and its’ associated energy and water systems is conducted, considering thermal comfort, water heating and efficiency, lighting, refrigeration, cooking, entertainment and waste management.

Ggeneral information is recorded about the way people interact with their home. The data collected is entered into a sophisticated assessment software tool to allow environmental impact calculations.

Throughout the process a range of practical suggestions is offered and solutions to help improve household efficiency and sustainability.

How long will it take?

Assessments usually take between 45mins and 1.5 hours. The length of the assessment will depend on the size of the house, the availability of the information required and the number of energy and water systems to be considered.
